Is That My Intuition or Something Else?

A Quiet Knowing

At the most recent retreat, there was much discussion on reconnecting with our intuition. The question kept coming up, “How do you determine whether a feeling or thought is coming from your intuition or from something else?” I love this question! Like many things, unless it’s a practiced skill it can indeed be difficult to know. Here are some tips to help you differentiate:

Physical Sensations: Intuitive hits often come with physical sensations like a gut feeling, chills, or even a sense of discomfort. People have all kinds of personal signs. Pay attention to how your body reacts in different situations.

Clarity: Intuitive “hits” are often clear and come without overthinking or analysis. They are usually accompanied by a sense of deep knowing without logical reasoning. If you feel like the insight is coming from a place of utmost clarity, that might be your intuition speaking.

Alignment with Values: Intuitive messages tend to align with your core values and beliefs. If the message feels in line with who you are at your core, it might be your intuition guiding you. Intuitive individuals often have a strong moral compass. You may find you're able to quickly assess the ethics of a situation and act accordingly, even if it goes against societal norms.

Timing: Intuition often comes as a sudden insight or feeling, sometimes when you're not actively thinking about the issue. Pay attention to moments when ideas or feelings pop into your mind seemingly out of nowhere.

Observe: Intuitive people tend to be highly observant, noticing details and patterns that other may overlook. They're often able to pick up on subtle nonverbal cues, body language, and changes in energy.

Practice: The more you practice tuning into your intuition, the easier it becomes to recognize it. Start by paying attention to small decisions and how you feel in different situations.

Get Quiet: The more often you quiet the mind, the larger the window for the intuitive hits to come through. These insights may not always occur during meditation, but by consistently practicing stillness, you create room for your other senses to attune to the subtleties of your intuition and become more receptive and clear.

Journal: Writing down your dreams, premonitions, or other intuitive experiences can help you identify patterns and better understand the language of YOUR particular intuition.

Human intuition is extremely personal and can manifest differently for each individual. Trusting your gut feeling and paying attention to subtle cues can help you recognize when it's your intuition speaking. You truly will “just know”.

Intuition is often described as quiet and subtle because it is a form of understanding that comes from within, there doesn’t have to be external evidence. Quite frequently, that gut feeling or a sense of knowing occurs without being able to explain why.

Confusion may occur when an individual has a dysregulated nervous system. As part of the inner work, it's important to clarify one's ability to trust, which may be influenced by various emotions and ways of thinking. Again, intuition doesn’t come with reasons.

This unique gift is exclusive to you, and ONLY YOU can tap into its wisdom!

If you're ready to learn more and tap into your magic, let's connect. Sometimes it really is as simple as getting ourselves around other like-minded, intuitive people and feeling the magic return.
